Patricia “Tricia” Kennedy’s brilliant 25-year career as an art teacher and National Board Certified Teacher in Montgomery County Public Schools has showcased her dedication to using the arts as a powerful tool for education, social change, and community bonding. Beyond the classroom, Tricia’s initiatives continuously try to uplift and inspire through creative expression and innovative community projects.
In the spring of 2024, Tricia plans to open Swirls of Frederick, an ice cream and popcorn shop. More than a culinary destination, Swirls will be a community hub, fostering connections and celebrating diversity through delightful and unique taste experiences.
Living in Lake Linganore, MD, with her family and two Basenjis, Tricia’s personal life is a reflection of her professional values, filled with a passion for outdoor adventures, community service, and a strong belief in the transformative power of volunteerism.
Tricia’s leadership in Seed to Roots, a Women Solve program, has been pivotal. This initiative champions youth arts and celebrates Black History through artistic expression. Tricia’s strategic vision was crucial in securing the program’s first grant from the Maryland State Arts Council (MSAC), reinforcing her commitment to nurturing arts and culture within her community.
As a board member of Women Solve, Tricia Kennedy embodies the organization’s mission to harness collective power and diverse talents to address community challenges. Her educational leadership, entrepreneurial spirit, and philanthropic efforts inspire women and young artists to explore their potential, embrace collaboration, and advocate for a more equitable and inclusive world.
