Dr. Lanyn P. Taliaferro, originally from Brooklyn, NY, has established a formidable presence in the scientific community. After earning a B.S. in Chemistry from the University of Rochester, Lanyn advanced her career as a bench scientist at the University of Rochester Medical Center, focusing on immunology and microbiology.
Lanyn’s academic pursuits led her to obtain a Ph.D. in Molecular Biology from the University of Maryland Baltimore County. She further honed her expertise during a postdoctoral fellowship at the US Food and Drug Administration, contributing significantly to public health research.
Currently, Lanyn serves as a Health Scientist at the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases at the National Institutes of Health in Rockville, MD. Her work is crucial in advancing our understanding of infectious diseases and improving public health outcomes.
Residing in Urbana, Maryland, with her two young children and husband, Lanyn is a staunch advocate for education. Drawing from her positive experiences within the NYC public school system, she is a Warrior in The FCPS Curriculum Diversity Women
