🌟 Feeling inspired after an incredible Saturday serving as judges at Maryland History Day with fellow Women Solve Warrior Tarolyn Mckinney Next on the Mic. We were amazed by the dedication and creativity of the students. It's wonderful to see young historians bring the past to life through their projects! 📚💡

You can check out the winners on the Maryland History Day page. We would love to help students from Frederick County participate next year and are already brainstorming ways to incorporate historical performances into our #SeedtoRoots program.

Let’s inspire more young minds to explore history! #MarylandHistoryDay #FutureHistorians Maryland Humanities

🌱🎨✨ Seed to Roots: A Celebration of Gratitude ✨🎨🌱

As we look back on the 2024 Seed to Roots Youth Arts Performance and Art Show, our hearts are filled with gratitude. This year marked our fourth annual event, and it was nothing short of extraordinary, with 33 performances and 107 talented students taking the stage.

The announcement by Mayor Michael O'Connor, Mayor of Frederick of The City of Frederick Splash Grant was a highlight, promising a dream-come-true Broadway experience for our participants.

Gratitude extends to Mr. Gregory Yancey from Governor Wes Moore's Office for his uplifting speech and for recognizing our students with certificates, embodying the spirit of youth empowerment.

Our heartfelt thanks to the Ausherman Family Foundation, Maryland Humanities, and Maryland State Arts Council, whose support made this celebration of art and talent possible.

Weinberg Center for the Arts, at the intersection of historical significance and future possibilities, endeavors to foster unity and dismantle racial barriers through the arts. We recognize the progress made and continue to advocate for actions that honor and amplify every voice and talent. We are thankful for the collaboration and the doors it has opened for our students, looking forward to navigating the future with hope and resilience.

We're grateful for the generosity of ticket donors including Alpha Lambda Lambda Chapter of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Inc., Asian American Center of Frederick, Karl Bickel and Eileen Benecke, TGP Gives, Urbana Pediatrics, LLC, and William and Monica Reid. Your contributions ensured that families and community members could experience this memorable event.

A special nod to Frederick County Public Libraries for setting up a mini-library honoring Black History and culture, providing an invaluable resource for our community and sparking a love for reading among our young attendees.

Our dedicated volunteers and the students from I Believe in Me INC were instrumental in ensuring the event ran smoothly—a testament to the power of community support.

Special thanks to those who helped recruit students and sell tickets through social media and email outreach including Whole Heart Center, FCPS Maryland, BlackFrederick.com, OUT40, and Frederick Lifestyle whose contributions were invaluable.

To our vendors— PrintatHood, M. Jay Visions - Photography, and K Hops Shoots Videography—your professionalism and support were key to capturing the magic of the night.

Finally, we extend our gratitude to the entire community for purchasing tickets and attending the 2024 Seed to Roots Youth Arts Performance and Art Show. Seed to Roots is more than an event; it's a movement towards nurturing talent and fostering opportunities for growth and success. This celebration of Black History as All History, art, and community spirit couldn’t have been possible without every single one of you.

With deep appreciation,
The 2024 Seed to Roots Planning Committee
